Log Raft On The River

Is there a more classic story element than a log raft constructed, by boys, floating down the river? Like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn before them, Ephraim, Joel, and Caleb lashed together logs and floated almost 2 miles down the Susquehanna River.

We were not actually sure it would work. But we tested a few different logs in the pond and became confident that the Ash wood we found would work. We hauled the logs to the river using our minivan and everything worked even better than expected. We had amazing weather and an amazing afternoon!
